Aftercare

  • Remove plastic wrap after 2-3 hours unless directed otherwise

  • With clean hands and in a CLEAN area, clean your tattoo with an unscented antibacterial soap as soon as you remove the wrap, then pat dry with a clean paper towel.

  • Clean your tattoo 2-3 times a day, and in case something unsanitary touches it (children, pets, etc.), then pat dry with a clean paper towel.

  • Once your tattoo starts drying out and peeling, use a thin layer of unscented lotion

  • Avoid picking at or scratching your tattoo, not only can it cause general irritation but it can also cause scarring

  • No swimming of any kind until your tattoo is healed, this can not only cause oversaturation or your tattoo having pieces fall out too soon, but it can also cause infections. Baths are included in this category

  • Avoid the gym until the tattoo is fully healed.

  • Avoid going to the beach, especially swimming in the ocean (this also applies  for rivers and lakes.)

  • No gardening, and avoid allowing pets or children to touch your new tattoo until it’s finished healing

  • Avoid direct contact with the sun and avoid tanning beds, use of sunscreen is recommended.

  • Provided you take care of your tattoo it  should be fully healed in 2-2.5 weeks, however depending on your skin type and general health it may take slightly longer

  • Should you present symptoms of infection (redness, swelling, tenderness on the tattoo area, red streaks going from the tattoo area towards the heart, elevated body temperature, or purulent drainage from the procedure area) seek medical care.
